HISTORY:
The king Jaime II the Just person, grants in 1323 Gandia's dominion to his son the infante Pere. Alfonso Old, son of the previous one, inherits later this dominion (1359) and raises it to the category of Royal Duchy in 1399. He is Alfonso the Vell, who begins the construction of the palace. In the year 1485 Rodrigo de Borja, (future eats Alejandro VI), after satisfying a debt that the king Fernando Catholic had, from the year 1470, with the city of Valencia, where Gandía was acting as article, buys Gandía's Duchy, for his son Pedro Luis de Borja (Borgia), who turns into the first duke of Gandía. 1 With the arrival of the family Borja, the building will be seen extended and modified.
